What Happens When Something Goes Wrong? The After-Sales Question to Ask Before You Buy
It’s easy to glance at the warranty length in the advert and move on. The detail that decides how long the cover lasts sits in a registration step that’s easy to forget once the boxes are unpacked. A Vidalux steam shower warranty runs for 12 months as standard from the day of delivery, and registering within 90 days extends it to the period stated for your model, which is up to five years on certain models.
That registration step is one of several conditions that shape what happens if a part ever fails.
This guide walks through what a parts warranty covers, what it leaves out, what to check on delivery day, and how a claim works in practice, so you know the after-sales picture before you buy.
What Does a Steam Shower Warranty Usually Cover?
A steam shower warranty in this category is usually a parts warranty: if a component proves defective within the warranty period, the manufacturer supplies a replacement part. The cost of someone fitting that part is normally excluded.
Vidalux works this way. Its showers are sold in kit form, which the warranty terms describe as meaning every part can be removed and exchanged, and the warranty doesn’t cover any cost of fitting replacement parts, in whole or in part. There’s no limit on the number of replacement parts you can claim during the warranty period.
A parts warranty works well when the brand behind it holds the stock and knows the products. It works badly when a part turns up with no guidance and nobody to ask.
A car warranty works the same way. Years of cover on paper count for little if the dealer can’t get hold of the part. What makes it useful is the parts stock and the people behind the paperwork.
Why You Should Register Your Steam Shower Warranty Within 90 Days
Registering within 90 days of delivery is what unlocks any cover beyond the standard 12 months. Miss the deadline and the extended warranty is void, cover reverts to 12 months, and no refund can be given for it by Vidalux or by the retailer.
The 90 days is a hard cut-off, and late registrations can’t be accepted.
Registration is done online through the warranty registration form, and it asks for the details on the Completion Certificate at the back of your manual. Your plumber or installer and your electrician fill that certificate in, so ask them to complete it before they leave.
Steam shower cabins, whirlpool baths, steam generators, hydro showers with electric features and hardwired traditional or hybrid saunas also need a Part P installation certificate number on the form wherever new electrics have been installed in the bathroom. The tradesperson who carried out the electrical work supplies it. Without a confirmed Part P number, a claim for an electrical fault cannot be accepted.
The registration requirement is printed in three places: on the product page, in the terms and conditions, and in the literature supplied with the product. It’s still easy to overlook in the busy weeks after an installation, so put a reminder in your diary on delivery day.
What the Vidalux Warranty Covers, and What It Leaves Out
Every part that makes up a Vidalux product is covered against defects during the warranty period, with a short list of exceptions worth knowing before you buy.
The exceptions are set out in the warranty terms. Glass panels, metal profiles and chrome fittings are not covered by the warranty itself, and glass breakage is assessed case by case under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, so send photos through the warranty claim form if it happens.
The door seals, which the instructions call F-flap or magnetic door seals, are perishable and aren’t covered.
LEDs, light bulbs and chromotherapy lights carry a 12-month warranty because they’re treated as consumable items. A fault where limescale from hard water is suspected as the cause isn’t covered, and nor is a unit that has been opened from its factory seal, such as a steam generator, control panel or electric box. Cover is for domestic use only, so installations in commercial property such as guest houses, dormitories or large-scale rentals aren’t included, and warranties apply within the UK mainland, to the delivery address.
If you live in a hard-water area, the terms say fitting a water softener is essential. The Clear & Bright Water Softener is Vidalux’s own option: it needs no plumbing or chemicals and costs about £2 a year to run.
The terms also require isolation taps on any steam shower, hydro shower or whirlpool bath connected to a live water feed, turned off when the product isn’t in use.

What about the cost of fitting a replacement part?
Labour isn’t covered. Any contribution toward a plumber’s or electrician’s time is discretionary goodwill, never a set amount and never a right.
Vidalux supplies parts and doesn’t send engineers, so many parts are designed to be easy to change, and video tutorials are provided for some, such as thermostatic valve replacement. Anything involving the electrical supply is work for a Part P qualified electrician.
What Should You Check in the First 48 Hours After Delivery?
Check every item within 48 hours of delivery. Transit damage must be reported within 48 hours of receipt, and cosmetic claims made after that may not be considered, because it becomes harder to tell where a mark came from.
For a palletised delivery you have 20 minutes with the driver to inspect and offload. Note any damage on the delivery sheet in detail and contact Vidalux straight away; writing only “damaged” on the sheet isn’t enough for the insurance.
Don’t book your installer until the goods have arrived and been checked. Vidalux isn’t liable for a fitter’s cancellation fee caused by a delivery delay.
Once installation begins, the products enter their warranty periods and returns can no longer be accepted, because starting the installation counts as accepting the goods. If you’re still deciding who will fit it, our guide to choosing between DIY and a professional installer sets out the trade-offs.
How Do You Make a Warranty Claim?
Warranty claims are made in writing, using the warranty claim form on the Vidalux website, whichever retailer you bought from. Claims are handled through that form rather than by phone or email.
The warranty claim form asks for the retailer’s name, the date of purchase and the invoice number. At minimum, include a photo of the faulty part so the correct replacement is sent. If a video shows the fault better and the file is too big to attach, share it as a link through Dropbox, Google Drive or WeTransfer.
Making the claim through the form gives it a written record from the first message. That record means anyone on the team can pick up your case without you repeating yourself, and it gives both sides a reference for what has happened.
Vidalux may ask for photos, measurements or the return of a part for testing before a replacement is agreed. Panel sizes have changed across production runs over the years, so measurements help make sure the right part goes out first time. Where a return is requested and the part proves faulty, Vidalux pays the return postage within the UK mainland.
Replacement parts are sent out as quickly as possible, typically by Royal Mail tracked delivery, to the delivery address on the original order. Urgent cases are prioritised, especially where a customer has a medical need. If a part has since been revised or upgraded, the updated version is supplied, along with any matching parts from the same set where the look of the product would otherwise be affected.
The technical support line on 01524 489 939 is there for technical and installation questions, such as plumbing connections. The claim itself still goes in writing.
Buying through Costco, B&Q or another retailer doesn’t change the route. Vidalux handles the claim directly, and the form asks which retailer you used.
Will Spare Parts Still Be Available in Five Years?
Yes! Vidalux stocks spares for older models, and even for discontinued models the spares department may still have the part you need.
Send a clear photo of the faulty part and your model details to customer services, and the team will check what’s available.
The parts behind a warranty decide how useful it is. A cabin with long cover and no spares behind it can leave you with a shower nobody can repair, and our guide on how to avoid a cabin nobody can fix covers what to ask before you buy.
Vidalux is stocked by national retailers including Costco and B&Q, and it also sells direct online. Review invites go out automatically, and current Trustpilot and Google scores are linked from the Vidalux website.
Your Statutory Rights Run Alongside the Warranty
Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply alongside any manufacturer’s warranty, and installing the product doesn’t remove them.
According to the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. A fault found within 30 days of delivery gives a short-term right to reject the goods for a full refund. Within six months of delivery, the law presumes a fault was present at delivery unless the seller can show otherwise. After the first 30 days, the seller gets one chance to repair or replace the goods before a refund is due.
The warranty sits on top of those rights, with its own conditions on registration, exclusions and claims.
Putting the After-Sales Picture Together
Before you buy, the useful questions are simple: what the warranty covers, what registration involves, how a claim works, and whether the parts will still be there in years to come.
