A steam shower gives you two things in one footprint: a full everyday shower and a private steam room, ready whenever you want it.
The fully enclosed cabin, roof included, holds the steam in, and a quick-start generator fills it within minutes at the touch of a button.
Every model has a thermostatic valve, a monsoon rainfall head and a hand shower, so it works as a practical daily shower as well as a spa. It all comes as one leak-free unit that sits against an untiled wall, turning a standard bathroom into a spa without a building project.
SS80-1200: the most affordable way into steam. Comes with all the core features such as quick-start steam, chromotherapy lighting and Bluetooth, from 800 x 800mm up to 1200mm rectangles.
Essence: our flagship quadrant range in 800, 900 and 1000mm. The customisable version lets you choose your own finishes.
Miami: includes a built-in bathing tub, so you can soak your feet during a steam session or bathe a toddler, in 900 and 1050mm sizes.
Clearwater: a spacious 1200 x 800mm offset in left- and right-hand versions, with premium touches like a stainless steel monsoon head and wood-effect floor insert.
Serenity and Fusion: generous 1200 x 900mm cabins. The Serenity can stand against a side wall or in the middle of a room, backed against a single wall.
Selsey Twin and Tempest Twin: two-person steam showers for couples who want to share the experience.
Quick-start steam: the generator begins producing steam within moments, so there’s no long wait before your session.
Aromatherapy: add a few drops of essential oil to the aroma dispenser and the steam carries the scent through the cabin.
Roof fan: set it to extract steam when you’ve finished, or to circulate it during your session without the need to duct through an external wall.
Chromotherapy lighting: colour-changing lights to set the mood.
Bluetooth and radio: stream music from your phone through the built-in speakers.
Remote control: included with many models, so you can adjust settings without reaching for the panel.
Features vary by model, so check the product page for the full list.
Steam showers range from 800 x 800mm up to the 1400 x 900mm Tempest Twin and 1300 x 1300mm Selsey Twin, and most stand 2200mm tall, so check your ceiling has room for assembly above.
Inside, the panels sit roughly 5 to 6cm in from the edge of the tray on each side, which is useful when working out how roomy a model will feel and allows for pipes to sit behind.
Quadrants make the best use of a corner, while rectangular and twin models give you space to sit back and stretch out. Every model’s exact dimensions are on its product page.
Start by deciding who’ll use it. For one person, the SS and Essence ranges offer the full steam experience at the best value. For extra room, the Clearwater, Serenity and Fusion give you a larger floor space, and for two, the Twin models are built for sharing. Then decide how much you want built in.
Higher ranges add extras such as a stainless steel monsoon head, a floor insert and stool as standard, a sleeker control panel, remote control and DAB radio. Finally, choose your finish: Ocean Mirror, Crystal White or Midnight Black, depending on the model.
Steam is harder to contain than water, and it’s why so many steam rooms and wet rooms develop leaks and damp problems over time.
Our steam showers use Leak-Seal construction: a compression-sealed cabin with a leak-free tray and return channels that keep water inside the unit, with no silicone on show. The steam stays in the cabin and the water stays in the tray, so your walls and floor stay protected without tiling or tanking.
Most models carry a 5-year warranty, and spare parts remain available long after the warranty ends.
Our quality and service are chosen and trusted by more retailers than any other brand
Plumbing is the same as any shower: hot and cold water supplies and a waste connection. The steam generator, lighting and controls need a dedicated electrical supply, which must be connected by a qualified electrician. New electrical work in a bathroom is notifiable under Part P regulations.
The exact electrical requirements for each model are listed on its product page, so share them with your electrician when getting a quote.
Yes. The steam and shower work independently, so you can enjoy a steam session on its own, have a normal shower, or finish your steam with a cool rinse.
Even for steam-only use, keep the tray connected to a working waste, as condensation builds up during every session and needs somewhere to drain.
The quick-start generator begins producing steam almost straight away, and the cabin fills within just a few minutes. You set the temperature on the control panel, up to 60°C.
Steam feels far hotter than the same temperature in dry air, so most people find a comfortable session well below the maximum and a setting around 38-42°C is most common. Sessions of 10 to 20 minutes are typical.
No. The cabin is fully enclosed, roof included, so the steam stays where it’s meant to be during your session.
When you’ve finished, the roof fan helps clear the steam, and a little escapes when you open the door, much as it would after a hot shower. Normal bathroom ventilation, such as an extractor fan or window, is all you need.
Very little. As an example, a 3kW generator running for a 20-minute session uses about 1kWh, around 25p at typical UK electricity prices.
Even with a steam session every day, that’s under £8 a month for your own private steam room, a fraction of a spa membership.
No tiling or tanking is needed. The cabin has its own back panels, roof and tray, so both steam and water are contained within the unit itself.
You can position it in front of a plain plastered wall, which saves time and money on installation and makes it a practical way to transform a tired bathroom.
Yes, with a little care. In hard water areas, limescale gradually builds up in the steam generator and to combat this, we offer the ‘Clear & Bright’ Water Softener. This softener can sit neatly behind the shower to help prevent limescale entering the generator, or it can be installed on the water main into the home to help protect the whole house.
There are a few hard water postcode search tools online to confirm if you have hard water in your home; telltale signs are calcium spots on your taps, shower head and other brassware.
Most healthy adults can enjoy steam safely. Keep sessions sensible, drink plenty of water, and step out if you feel light-headed. If you’re pregnant, have a heart or blood pressure condition, or have any other medical concerns, check with your GP before using a steam shower. Children should always be supervised.

Norman ChurchThis is the second Vidalux cabin I have purchased. This one is an electric shower, right hand in black. It looks magnificent in my newly refurbished bathroom. The cabin has reduced the amount of re-tiling required significantly. Relatively easy to install.Posted on Google
Kevin JamesVidalux SS80 NO ELECTRICS free standing shower cabin, purchased June 26. This is the second purchase I have made of a shower cabin from Vidalux, from selection on the website to purchase everything was so easy, once the purchase was completed the confirmation support was excellent. I was emailed regarding a suitable delivery date of my choice and when I had chosen a date I was given a window time for delivery. All in all the selection, purchase and delivery date couldn’t have gone any smoother. As with a previous purchase from Vidalux all components of the shower cabin were packaged for protection and once delivered it had everything required to build a complete shower cabin, as very precise instructions were included I had no problem in completing the self assembly my self, not a problem if your handy the instructions and videos on the Vidalux website are there to assist you if you’re struggling. However if your not into DIY then you need to bring in someone who is capable of being able to assemble the unit whether they be professional or otherwise, certainly don’t try to assemble it yourself because you may regret it. All in all I’m very satisfied with my second purchase from Vidalux and would definitely recommend them if your thinking of buying from them, quality units at very competitive prices.Posted on Google
Cole FamilyPurchased a Vidalux RT79 as we needed a shower in a very small bathroom. I chose this for its leak free promise and I can see from the construction that it is unlikely that leaks will be a problem. The parts were good quality and fitted together without too much difficulty, that said, the instructions could have been a bit clearer especially for the plumbing connections. A manufacturing defect on the tray was swiftly and easily resolved by the customer service sending out a replacement. The pod is small enough to fit where the bath was and unfortunately the shelf inside is just where I would bump my head on it, so that is removed. The rain head is very effective and handset works well although the body jets were not to my liking. It look smart in the refurbished bathroom.Posted on Google
Shaun MaggsReceived my sauna about 6 weeks ago and it's been a great addition to my gym. The Sauna works exactly as described and the customer support us very good for any questions. Would highly recommend.Posted on Google
